AAJ Technologies Future of Healthcare Forum 2017 Recap 


On November 14th AAJ Technologies held their 7th annual Future of Healthcare Forum focusing on digital health at the Microsoft offices in Fort Lauderdale.

Jessica Higgins speaks at the AAJ Technologies Future of Healthcare Digital Health Forum 2017The event in partnership with the SFHHA was sold out, with over 70 healthcare executives in attendance from companies such as Johnson & Johnson, Memorial Healthcare, Mednax, Life Extension, GE Healthcare, and Oncology Analytics.

With this year’s focus on digital health and digital transformation, AAJ Technologies brought in 8 speakers from such notable companies as Pfizer, Microsoft and Miami Children’s Health System.

The event opened with some mid-morning networking, then people took their seats and were greeted by Jim McKeen, AAJ Technologies Director of Healthcare Services (and HIMSS Past President).

Next up was Murray Izenwasser who set the tone for the event with a presentation building to the question of the day… “Why is it that when it comes to being digital, the healthcare industry has largely gotten a pass”?

With the tone set by Mr. Izenwasser (AAJ’s VP of Digital Transformation and CMO), we learned from the rest of the presentations, both where the industry is heading, and how as digital businesses we will catch up and even surpass other industries.

For example:

  • Cal Austin, Lead Instigator Worldwide Innovation for Pfizer discussed how to innovate, and to bring startup thinking to the healthcare IT process.
  • Andrew Satz, Co-Founder of MetrixLabs spoke to us about the realities of data science, artificial intelligence and machine learning and how they will affect patient outcomes.
  • Dr. Jacques Orces, CMIO and Medical Director for Telemedicine, Miami Children’s Hospital spoke in-depth about telemedicine and how it will shape the future of healthcare.
  • And Jessica Higgins, CEO of Gapingvoid Culture Design Group discussed building a culture of change within healthcare organizations.

The event ended with hors d’oeuvors, networking and cocktails.

Presenters were very futuristic about healthcare technology”, and, “The program was very useful and all speakers were exceptional”.
